Tracked for years by obsessed FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), the young mastermind was able to slip through his fingers multiple times, enjoying himself in the process. The con artist's foremost crime was check fraud which he carried out so expertly that by the end of the movie he gets recruited by the FBI to help them with check forgery cases.
