This is Jack from tofluency.com. And in this video, I'm going to talk about the present perfect and since and, more specifically, I'm going to give you some examples of how we use this tense with since. So, let's have a look at how I used it in one of my other videos. "Today, I don't feel fantastic because I was up a lot during the night and I've been awake since 3 AM." In the video, I said, "Today, I don't feel fantastic because I was up a lot during the night and I've been awake since 3 AM." Now firstly, 'to be up' means to be awake or to be out of bed. So, on that night, I was up a lot. Now, when we use the present perfect and since, we're talking about something that started in the past and continues in the present. But with 'since' we're talking about a specific point in the past. In this case, this is 3 AM. But let's look at some more examples now. I've been in America since 2011. So, we use since a lot with years. We haven't seen them since the wedding. So again, 'the wedding' is a point in the past and we haven't seen those people since then - we haven't seen them since the wedding. I've not had a good night's sleep since last Monday. So again, 'last Monday' is a point in the past - I've not had a good night's sleep since last Monday. What I recommend you do now is watch this video, and this looks at using the present perfect continuous with 'for'. So, it's going to give you some examples with 'for' instead of 'since'. So, thank you for watching this video, and I'll see you guys next time! ---------- Please share this video if you found it useful.
