The Caffey murders took place in Texas in March 2008, when sixteen year old Erin Caffey persuaded her boyfriend, Charlie Wilkinson, and his friend, Charles Waid, to kill her family after her parents tried to separate the relationship. In the early hours of 1 March, Wilkinson and Waid entered the Caffey home, shot Erin’s mother Penny and her two younger brothers, Matthew and Tyler, and set the house on fire. Erin waited outside with a fourth accomplice, Bobbi Johnson, who acted as a driver. Erin’s father, Terry Caffey, was shot multiple times but managed to escape the burning house and raise the alarm. The investigation uncovered that the plan had been discussed for weeks and was driven by Erin’s wish to continue the relationship without her parents’ restrictions. Erin was sentenced to two life terms plus an additional twenty five years and will not be eligible for parole until her late fifties. Wilkinson and Waid received life without parole. Johnson was sentenced to forty years. The case remains one of the most disturbing examples of adolescent involvement in extreme violence, and continues to be covered in documentaries and interviews. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥: We focus only on the psychology and behaviour shown in the clips we watch, in real time.
