Level 42's first hit was 'Love Games', recorded in 1981 by Level 42 in its original line up with Mark King, Phil and Boon Gould, and Mike Lindup. The single was released three times in the Netherlands and eventually became a bigger hit in Holland than in their home country, the UK. It became 'Alarmschijf' on 31 October 1981 and reached #7 in the Top 40 on 28 November 1981. In the UK the single peaked at #38. 'Love Games' was their first appearance on Toppop on 3 November 1981 in the Toppop studios, Hilversum, The Netherlands.
