A gunfight caught on camera in north Seattle Saturday is believed to be the result of a turf war over sex workers, Councilmember Cathy Moore told KOMO News. The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at Aurora Ave N and N. 101st Street. "What I'm hearing from SPD is that it is turf wars between pimps. They are fighting over their property, and they are making a good living off the backs of women who are being exploited because there is a lot of money at stake that is fueling the gun violence we are seeing," Moore said Tuesday outside Seattle City Council chambers. The video obtained by KOMO News shows an apparent argument between at least one person and a group of people. At one point, the video shows a person opening fire on the group, and the group fires back. KOMO News counted 15 shots in about five seconds. Seattle police said they collected 30 shell casings. A woman was shot in the leg but left the scene and showed up on her own at Harborview Medical Center. She's expected to be OK. "I am a member of the community, I share your concerns and I am doing everything in my power to try to make you safer,” Moore told KOMO News when asked about what she can say to reassure the businesses and residents of District 5's north Seattle neighborhood. “I am reaching out to everybody." The council member added she didn't want to give false hope but said she believes it would take a unified approach. She said she's been in touch with the north precinct. Seattle Police Department Interim Chief Sue Rahr is working with the Mayor's Office and the City Attorney's Office and is in conversations with the Seattle Department of Transportation and Seattle Public Utilities to come up with other safety ideas, including adding possible street barriers and other environmental safety designs. -------------------------------------------------- For more on the lead story: https://komonews.com/news/local/auror... _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: KOMO News on Facebook: / komonews KOMO News on Twitter: / komonews KOMO News on Instagram: / komo4 KOMO News on TikTok: / komo4seattle Subscribe to KOMO on YouTube: / @komonews Watch more top local news stories: • Видео For all of the day’s top local and national news, visit http://www.komonews.com/ Watch our live newscasts and other live video at https://komonews.com/watch Download our iOS App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/komo-...
