Macedonian dialects – past and present: Macedonian language is a South Slavic language with inherited Slavic grammar and lexicon that it has evolved in an environment with genetically unrelated languages. Macedonian contacts with the other present day members of the Balkan Linguistic League occurred via its dialects. Although the Macedonian language is characterized by its late standardization, its continuity is indisputable, because it survived and evolved through its dialects regardless of the non existence of various socio-political frameworks (autonomy, statehood, institutions, official norms, etc.). Examined from the linguistic aspect, it is precisely this freedom in the development of living communication that enabled the adaptation of linguistic processes related to contact induced change. Thus, in its centuries long development, Macedonian has constantly been interacting with the other Balkan languages and it has converged with them to share the same conceptualization with the world and adapt to the environment in similar ways. In their everyday communication, speakers introduce their dialectical and regional characteristics and thus continuously enrich the modern Macedonian language. The presentation will include dialect atlases, dialect maps of Macedonian language, texts and audio recordings from various Macedonian dialects. In addition, the presentation will include Macedonian language digital resources: 1. http://drmj.manu.edu.mk/en/ 2. http://ical.manu.edu.mk/ 3. http://manu.edu.mk/en/ 4. https://english.republika.mk/news/mac... 5. https://meta.mk/en/the-macedonian-aca...
