Saturday October 28, 2017 was an excellent day to be a railfan in Central Pennsylvania. With peak fall color, clear skies, and temperatures in the low 70's, the day was set to be a great one on the Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad. The Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society, in conjunction with the NBER and the Penn Valley Railroad, put on an excellent show with two fall foliage trips, one to Pleasant Gap and one to Tyrone. We chased the train, with GP8's 1601 and 1602, from Bellefonte to North Harrison Road just outside of Pleasant Gap, in order to catch some action on a lesser used branch of the NBER. The trip to Tyrone was also a beautiful ride and our appreciation is out to all of the groups who made it possible. 1:12 - Leaving Bellefonte. 3:24 - Epply White Road, Southbound. 4:50 - Krout Lane. 6:07 - North Harrison Road. 8:23 - Bridge over Route 144 in Pleasant Gap. 9:10 - Bridge over Logan Branch off of Route 144. 9:55 - Epply White Road, Northbound. 10:55 - Returning to Bellefonte in Tallyrand Park. 12:16 - 1601 light back to Sunnyside yard after the Tyrone trip.
