UPDATE: 5/11/1961 - Route 66 filmed Season 1, Episode 28 "The Opponent" in Youngstown, Ohio. Actors Martin Milner and George Maharis take a moment to chat with WKBN 27 Youngstown OH in between takes in downtown. You can also watch the full episode on hulu: https://www.hulu.com/watch/606367 In the opening scene, The Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company can be seen as the duo drives down Wilson Avenue and their dialogue includes dropping "Poland Avenue", "South Avenue", "The Mahoning" and "Wood Street". There's some gorgeous cinematography of of bustling downtown, scenes shot at The Crown Hotel as well as a boxing match The Struthers Fieldhouse. The Mary Tyler Moore Show's Ed Asner has a sizable role as Scully, Darren McGavin (best known as Ralphie's father in A Christmas Story) portrays washed up boxer Johnny Copa and Al Lewis aka Grandpa Munster has a bit part as a gym owner.
