In this video, we’ll be exploring THREE of Bangkok’s oldest restaurants. We’ll uncover their history, their personal stories, and the food they’ve been serving for over a hundred years. We’ll delve into a dish loved by a King, the oldest chicken rice in Bangkok, and a rare Teochew cuisine. Descriptions of Article/Poster It’s fun to know what’s written on restaurant walls. Not necessary to understand the story, but I thought I’d share. 1. TEK HENG Mee Krob Jeen Lee has been around since the reign of King Rama V! The shop has been here for four generations, near the Talad Phlu pier. “How did you know to use these noodles for this dish?” “This is because Thai people loved to eat vermicelli noodles back then, especially my grandmother, who was born during King Rama V’s era.” The article discusses the story of King Rama V discovering their shop and how their other dishes are also delicious. The pan they use is so big it can feed 100 people. Interestingly, they use eggshells as measuring cups for the ingredients. At this moment, the third generation is training with the second generation to master Agong’s recipes. The cheapest Mee Krob is 50 Baht, and they only take one day off per month. 2. LIEO LIANG SENG Lieo Liang Seng Ice Cream is located at (Address) and has been open since 1891. It is the first ice cream shop in Thailand. The shop recommends its dishes, claiming the ice cream is as delicious as Häagen-Dazs. Initially, they only sold ice cream, but after moving to Samyan, they began serving food as well. They still use an old-style stove. Chapters: 0:00 Intro 1:14 What is Mee Krob? 1:43 1. Mee Krob Tek Heng Jeen Lee 10:56 2.
