Discover a treasure preserved at the Bibliothèque Mériadeck in Bordeaux. Designed by Gérard Mercator, a Flemish cartographer and mathematician, and supplemented by engraver Jodocus Hondius, these atlases represent the world in the form of parallel longitude lines, allowing navigation at sea.
