Test cut using a Jaguar II 24" Vinyl Cutter I picked up for cheap. Its a Vinyl Express label so Its technically called a Panther 24 but was simply a re-naming from SignWharehouse. To get this cutter working on a newer Windows 7 64 bit system I used the following combination of cables. 6ft Null Modem DB9F/DB25M Molded Cable http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id... SABRENT Model CB-FT1M 1 ft. USB 2.0 Serial Cable FTDI Chipset, Hexnuts http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product... Something worth noting on the USB to Serial Converter that I used. I first tried using a USB to Serial connector that used a prolific chipset/driver and I was unable to communicate with the cutter. I read into a number of forums and found others that had issues with prolific drivers working with Windows 7. The FTDI chipset seems to do the trick nicely in regards to Windows 7 compatibility. During the Proccess of trying to figure out my connection issues along with not completley knowing which model my cutter even was due to it being a re-branded cutter I e-mailed SignWharehouse and got this response: "The Jaguar II is made by GCC in Taiwan and was branded by SignWarehouse as a Panther plotter. It uses either a Null Modem (Serial) connection or parallel. If you intend use with a newer computer system, it is likely that a USB to Serial adapter will be needed along with the RS232 Null Modem cable. As for software, you will need a software that includes cutter drivers to operate the device. Flexi Sign, VE LXI, Signlab, SignWizard, WinPCSign, etc... all will fit this category. " The actual Software I used to do this test run was a Demo of VinylMaster XPT v4.0.
