Join us, Rachel and Ray, on a breathtaking Switzerland travel adventure in Aescher, Switzerland, as we journey through the heart of the breathtaking Swiss Alps on a day trip during our long-weekend Microtraveler trip to Switzerland! (Shot on iPhone 13 Pro.) 0:00 Arrival - Staring our Aescher adventure 0:53 Ebenalp Cable Car - arriving from Zurich by rental car 2:00 Wildkirchli Caves - deciding on my new Alpine domicile 2:19 Wildkirchli Hermitage Chapel - a surprising place for a church 2:34 Aescher Cliff Restaurant and Guesthouse - hot and delicious fare After landing in Zurich and getting our rental car, it was too early to check into our hotel so we opted for an Aescher day trip. We drove straight towards the Appenzell region of Switzerland and hopped on the Ebenalp Cable Car so we could ride to the top of the mountain and begin our downhill trek in the rain. This cable car ride not only whisked us up to the top of the mountain but also revealed stunning panoramic views of the Swiss landscape down below that left us speechless! Once at the top of the mountain, we proceeded down the path toward Aescher, winding our way through the beautiful Wildkirchli Caves. I (Rachel) absolutely love caves so this was a major highlight of our hike. After making our way through the caves, we encountered a small chapel nestled in the mountains, where they still have church services today! Soon after, we rounded a corner and there it was...Aescher Cliff Restaurant. It looked every bit as captivating in real life as it did in the countless photos and videos I'd seen before our trip. Aescher, a restaurant nearly 170 years old, is precariously perched on the edge of a steep cliff. And with the heavy fog and rain, it looked mystical, straight out of a fairy tale. The manager was our server and she ensured a memorable dining experience. The food was superb, the drinks warm and comforting, and we were well prepared for our hike back up the mountain to catch the cable car back to our starting point. Traveling during the shoulder season turned out to be a blessing. The rain and fog didn't dampen our spirits; instead, they added an air of mystery and charm to our adventure. Plus, the lack of crowds made our experience more personal and relaxing. For our return, we embarked on a scenic walk back up to the Ebenalp cable cars, admiring the beauty of the mountains and lush green fields one more time. This episode of The Microtraveler was filmed on iPhone 13 Pro by Rachel and Ray Diaz, and edited with the VN app on iPhone 13 Pro. We used iPhone-ready lav mics for crystal-clear audio, and a small tripod for steady shots. Traveling light is imperative for our long-weekend trips and filming memorable content doesn't require extensive (or expensive) equipment. We hope you'll SUBSCRIBE and hit the bell to be notified each time we upload new content to share more of our micro-adventures!
