In this video I'll be taking a look at the brand new collaboration between Way Huge and Joe Bonamassa, the Penny Saver Royale. The Penny Saver Royale is two pedals in one from the Way Huge range. It is an overdrive and a chorus. The overdrive side is the Joe Bonamassa signature drive pedal, the Overated Special. The Overrated Special is a modified Way Huge Green Rhino which is their take on the classic Tubescreamer. For the Overrated Speciai, they modified the pedal to give a more pronounced midrange and added a Frequency control which acts as a cut and boost for the 900Hz low mid range. The modulation side is the Chorus mode from the Way Huge Blue Hippo Chorus. This side is very simple with just 2 controls for Speed and Depth. It can be used to thicken your driven tone with some subtle chorusing, or set to more extreme effects for some Leslie Speaker style tones. In the video I am plugged into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT440 mic.
