The chord progressions I use in this song (verse, E-A-E-A7; chorus, G-D-Dsus4-A-G-A-D-Dsus4-G-A) I first strummed in about 1997. I remembered the chords and lyrics from that era when I picked up my guitar to play again in 2023. I didn't much like the old verse (I only had one) or the chorus anymore because life is so different. In January 2024 I wrote a poem inspired by my search for love in the wake of divorce and text conversation I had with a prospective SO I had met on Bumble. That poem later (January 2026) became the first verse of this song as it dawned on me: the poem fits the timing well. Then, the chorus and verse 2 came quickly. At my request, SUNO (my AI partner) made a fiddle part that "riffs on the guitar's melodic fills," and finger-plucked upright bass part that "plays deep harmonies," added "light drums," and added more "intricate guitar work" during the musical breaks.
