Elena de la Hoz - LiteBIRD SGF: constraining isotropic cosmic birefringence

Cosmic birefringence, a rotation of the CMB polarisation plane, could reveal new parity-violating physics and shed light on dark matter or dark energy fields. Recent results from Planck and WMAP suggest a possible isotropic signal of about 0.3°. In this talk, I will present LiteBIRD capabilities in constraining such an effect, accounting for the impact of the more relevant systematic effects, namely foreground emission and instrumental polarisation angles. Using five independent analysis pipelines tested on increasingly realistic simulations, we assess the experiment’s ability to recover such a signal while accounting for instrumental and foreground systematics. Our results show that LiteBIRD can detect a 0.3° rotation with high confidence, reaching a precision of about 0.02°, opening a new window on fundamental physics through CMB polarisation.
