This step-by-step guide demonstrates how to install Solid Step® 4.0 RV entry steps. Start by folding up and locking the old steps, then remove all screws securing them. With assistance, carefully lift and place the new Solid Step into the unit. Adjust the transport lock using a 7/16 wrench for proper left-to-right orientation, then tighten without overtightening. Position the step assembly so the mounting bracket sits flush against the wall and floor, leaving a small gap for the strut cover. Secure the brackets to the floor using appropriate screws for your flooring type — self-tapping screws for laminate or wood screws for wood floors. Attach wall brackets with screws that penetrate backing material up to 75%. After installation, lower the new steps and extend the legs until they are parallel to the ground. Stow the steps and verify the transport lock functions correctly. Finish by inspecting the steps for proper stability with a gentle shake to simulate road travel.
