I'm sharing my ideas for #sewupcycle25 and month 2 of the #BusyBeeSewingChallenge25 and challenging myself to turn old bedding and curtains into a brand new garment for Autumn! Repurposing old household items not only sparks my creativity but also helps reduce waste. It's a great way to make something unique and meaningful, all while being kind to the planet. By giving old things a new life, I can create something that's both sustainable and stylish. Thanks to Sam @sequingirlie for running this year's Busy Bee Challenge and dreaming up the challenges. Please take a look at the other lovely bloggers taking part this year to see what they are up to. We'll all be back on YouTube to show our makes on 29th October. @thesewingwarehouse @bobbin_along_nicely @emkie_sews @SewLuluRasc @JasleberrySews @Mbalter69 Thanks to Karen @sewlittletime and Becky @NotesfromtheSewingRoom for running the #SewUpCycle25 challenge, and to all the generous sponsors who have donated prizes. Check out Karen and Becky's channels for more detail but the main rules of the challenge are: Make a garment or bag for a human (not a pet) from previously used fabric eg: a tablecloth, curtains, existing garment. Making something from fabric scraps is not allowed. Post your make on Instagram on 31 October 2025 using the hashtag #sewupcycle25 and tagging Karen @sew.little.time and Becky @notes_from_the_sewing_room . Note that their Instagram tags are slightly different from their YouTube channels. Make sure that you include a photograph of what you have upcycled before you started your transformation in your post. If you want to post any sneaky peeks of your WIP, please use the hashtag #sewupcycle25WIP. I'd love to know your ideas for joining in one or both challenges, and what you've upcycled before, so please comment below and let's get the conversation started! Don't forget to check out my other videos for more creative inspiration and fun projects. You can also follow me on Instagram @SewVeryLaura. Until next time, happy sewing!
