Documentary "Balcozna 10 Years After the Disaster"

Ten years have passed since the severe and sudden flood that affected the northern Paclín department, where the Balcozna River basin is located. Therefore, we decided to produce this documentary. In today's video, we summarize the events that occurred in the early morning of April 12, 2015, in the towns of Balcozna de Afuera, Villa de Balcozna, and Las Lajas, when the river experienced a historic flood that swept away important infrastructure projects in those geographic areas. The documentary also shows before-and-after images of each affected location and analyzes the meteorological situation that led to the event. The video also includes the accounts of two people from Balcozna who witnessed the phenomenon and provides concepts and ideas that can contribute to reducing the population's vulnerability to the latent threat of a possible new event of similar magnitude.
