On October 30th, 2025, following a welfare check, the Austin Police Department discovered a woman who had been held captive, restrained, and subjected to prolonged abuse by five individuals living in a home on Bitter Creek Drive in Southeast Austin, Texas. The victim, a longtime acquaintance of the suspects with reported mental health issues, had been confined since approximately July 2025, enduring physical torture, starvation, and exposure to the elements. Michelle Garcia (51), Crystal Garcia (21), Mache Carney (32), Juan Pablo Castro (30), and Maynard Lefevers (21) were arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, injury to elderly/disabled and unlawful restraint.
