Physician associates have 'no role' in the NHS, doctors warn | LBC debate

For years, doctors have been raising the alarm about the expansion of the role of 'physician associates' within the NHS. There is currently a review being conducted into the role, which many warn is being used as a cut-price alternative to qualified doctors. Labour have adopted the previous government's plan to pump thousands more PAs into the health service, despite warnings that they have 'no role' within it. And it's been revealed this week that the government will seek more physician associates from abroad in order to fill gaps in the UK. Matthew Wright hears from both sides of the debate.
