LEBANON: The Forest of the Cedars of God is a remnant of the vast cedar of Lebanon forests that thrived on Mount Lebanon in ancient times. Christian monks in the monasteries of the Kadisha Valley have revered the trees for centuries. The first documented references to the Cedars of God are found on Tablets 4-6 of the great Epic of Gilgamesh, six days' walk from Uruk.
