However, there were no injuries caused earlier. "Such an incident has taken place after a long time," said an official. "Even in the past, things never escalated," the official said. This is the second time within a week that India -China troops have come to blows at the LAC. While the latest faceoff took place on Saturday in North Sikkim triggering, a similar scuffle had broken on May 5 too as troops from both sides came face to face in eastern Ladakh. According to sources, the matter between both sides was resolved by May 6 morning. Sources said that face-offs are a seasonal phenomenon at this time of the year when the snow starts melting. Due to the increased movement of troops, roads and passes are cleared. Development of roads and infrastructure on both sides result in quicker movement and simultaneously face-offs increase. Similar incidents took place earlier in 2017 when troops on both sides hurled stones at each other near Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The Doklam stand-off of 73 days was the most intense one. It was a serious confrontation between Indian and China in the recent past as troops from both sides stood shoulder to shoulder, not willing to step back. The Doklam stand-off had triggered a diplomatic row, but the matter was resolved at this highest political and diplomatic level.
