Lake Los Angeles history is rich indeed. There was originally two lakes. One stocked for fishing with trout, catfish and bass and the other for swimming, boating and water skiing. Land developers bought 4,000 acres in 1967 and subdivided it into 4,465 lots. They refilled the natural lake that already existed and named it Lake Los Angeles as an enticement to land buyers. A water skier was shown skiing on the lake in the advertisements. There was a high end restaurant and country club built over looking the lake as well as a store, bar and grill. In the early 1980's after the original developers sold their interests in the property the lake was unfortunately allowed to evaporate. The Lake is very important to Lake Los Angeles history and I fully support the refilling of Lake Los Angeles. It would improve the look of the town and increase property values in Lake LA. Filming revenue would also increase with Lake Los Angeles refilled with water. Location scouts would love having a lake in the middle of the desert. Lake Los Angeles history includes many TV shows and films that have used Lake Los Angeles as a back drop. The movie "Lake Los Angeles" 2014 was shot in Lake LA. It's a story about a middle-aged man from Cuba and a 10-year-old girl from Mexico who bond over being away from home in Lake Los Angeles.
