Elsa Amanatidou and Vangelis Calotychos in conversation with Johanna Hanink about her translation of “The Archeologist” and a selection from “Tales from the Prow” by the renowned Greek author Andreas Karkavitsas (1865-1922). This will be the first translation published by Penguin Classics of a Modern Greek literary work from Greece. Johanna Hanink is Professor of Classics at Brown University. She writes and teaches on various aspects of Greek antiquity and its legacy. Her work in Classics focuses on the literature and culture of classical Athens, while her work in Modern Greek Studies is centered on how ideas about the ancient past shape the modern world.
