Solo Backpacking 16 Miles on Mount Timpanogos in Utah

In this weeks video I decided to try something a little different and haven’t done in awhile - Go backpacking and camp on a long hiking trail- Mount Timpanogos Mount Timpanogos is a very popular hiking trail in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. There are 2 main hiking trails people use. You have the Timpooneke trail and you also have the Aspen Grove trail which is the hiking trail I used on this backpacking adventure. The Aspen Grove trail is about 16 miles round trip and is considered a slightly more challenging trail compared to the Timpooneke trail. But, a huge benefit of the Aspen Grove side to outweigh the being more difficult is that there are 2 waterfalls that you pass on the way up making it more scenic and pretty of a trial. Camping on the trail is fairly easy. I decided to set up my tent near Emerald Lake. There are a few mountain goats in the area. Don’t worry too much about them, they are friendly. There is a shelter near the Emerald Lake where I eventually set up my tent near (You want to make sure you are a decent distance, I think 100 yards, from any water source when setting up camp) There is a huge boulder near where I set up my tent that had the perfect natural backrest making for a super comfortable place to sit and relax while I enjoyed my food, overlook picture perfect views of the valley, and watch the sunset. Overall perfect camping spot. The summit was only 1 hour 15 min from my camp making it a good spot to set up camp, continue onto the summit, and make it back down in a quick time (Only took me 57 minutes) to sleep for the night. Then you have a nice easy descent in the morning to get back to the trail head. Overall super fun hike that made it even more enjoyable by camping. Definitely would recommend. Timpanogos is one of Utah's 8 most prominent peaks. I have now officially completed 3 of the 8. Kings Peak, Nebo, and Timpanogos. All videos that are on my channel. Be sure to check them out.
