The Aringa tribe primarily lives in Yumbe District, which is part of the West Nile region of Uganda. There are fewer than 2% who are evangelical Christians in the district. In this three-part video interview, a brief history of the Aringa tribe is shared by a Reaching Africa's Unreached (RAU) long-time co-worker. RAU began its ministry work among the Aringa in the latter part of 2013. The interview includes the origins of the Aringa tribe, the first Christian missionaries, and the Islamic beginnings in the district through the Arab slave trade. The rise of Islam as the dominant religion of Aringa is discussed, along with the current state of the Aringa church. Lastly, the vision of Reaching Africa's Unreached is addressed, which includes a more active on-the-ground ministry of walking out 2 Timothy 2:2, (e.g., the training of faithful Aringa church leaders and the provision of Study Bibles, doctrinally sound books, and Christian-Muslim apologetics training and materials). This vision also includes participating side by side with local churches in their evangelistic outreach to Muslims and in Christian-Muslim dialogues with Muslim leaders.
