Henry & Margaret (Weissgerber) Gerlingshausen and their three children (Elizabeth, Henry Jr. and Christian) arrived at the port of Baltimore (USA) from Bremen, Germany aboard the ship Draper in December 1837. The three immigrant children raised their families in Louisiana and Mississippi, Elizabeth with Laban Ford in Natchez, Henry Jr. with Mary Dorcus Sherman mostly in the New Orleans area, and Christian with Joanna Croom in Manifest, Louisiana. Henry Jr.'s descendant, Scott Gallinghouse, begins with the early history of the Gerlingshausen family, through their 200 years in Herborn, Germany and on to Henry & Margaret's family's big move to America. This presentation was given at the annual Girlinghouse / Gallinghouse / Ford reunion in Jena, Louisiana on Sunday, October 27, 2013 and recorded by fellow researcher, Roland Heddins. Family photos, family group sheets, maps, census & other documents have been added to this presentation video.
