Struggling Autistic Child Failed by the System - Took 7 Years to Get Help | Beyond the Autism

Parker has autism, but it took him seven years to receive the therapies he needs. It took him over five years just to get diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum even though his parents tried early on. The objective of the Beyond the Autism videos is to spread awareness and build acceptance for families impacted by autism. More importantly, this project will be an opportunity for families with autistic children to realize they are not alone. Autism A La Mode is here to help spread awareness and acceptance for those on the autism spectrum. We are also a resource for families struggling with topics related to parenting by providing educational products and resources. Parker, when he was a toddler, he would cry and bang his head on the floor. These were early signs of autism. However, when he was evaluated, they said he knew too many words to qualify for services. When Parker was still a toddler, he had three seizures. Neurology said these could be caused by him having autism. Even with that suggestion from doctors, there was a significant struggle to get diagnosed.
