Adak is a small island on the Aleutian Chain that was once used by the US military to house 6000 personnel in an effort to counter the Japanese occupation of Attu. After World War 2 the base was used again to monitor Russian submarines before being decommissioned in the late 90s. Now with a current population of around 50 people, the island is covered with hundreds of abandoned structures and military facilities that are accessible to the public. It is one of the most remote and unique places I've ever had the privilege to set foot and while I was there we had an extraordinary weather window that allowed me to climb and document Mount Moffett!
