Our journey to this forgotten place was no easy feat—we had to cross vast fields, wade through a river, and scale a mountain just to reach it. But what we found inside was beyond anything we expected. This 17th-century fortified Fachwerk-style castle was built by Johann Albrecht von Eller-Eberstein in the years following the devastation of the Thirty Years' War. Its strategic mountaintop location had been used for centuries, with traces of older farmsteads and fortifications still lingering. In more recent times, the castle was home to world-renowned painter Hannes Rosenow and his wife, Gisi. Rosenow was famous for his watercolor paintings, known for their clean composition, bold outlines, and harmonious use of color. His works were exhibited in major galleries worldwide, and in 1972, he received the Seerosenpreis for Visual Arts from the city of Munich. While many of his paintings are held in public and private collections across the world, some still remain inside this very castle, untouched for years. After Hannes passed away in 2000, Gisi continued to live here, cherishing the castle and its memories until her passing in 2014. Though she loved this place, her children showed little interest in it, leaving the castle abandoned and slowly being reclaimed by nature. Join us as we explore this breathtaking yet eerie time capsule, uncovering the hidden secrets of a castle that once belonged to one of Germany’s most celebrated artists. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SOCIALS: TikTok ►   / brosofdecay   Instagram ►   / brosofdecay   Facebook ►   / brothersofdecay   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support us: Merch ► https://www.brosofdecay.com Patreon ►   / brosofdecay   Paypal ► https://paypal.me/lesleyhouben 00:00:00 Introduction 00:01:26 Sponsorship 00:03:13 Journey to the Castle 00:10:16 Story of Hannes Rosenow 00:11:22 Start of Exploration
