DESIGN DETAILS The increasing demand for efficient and reliable power distribution has led to the exploration of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices as a viable solution for enhancing the performance of radial distribution systems. This Matlab design presents an approach for the optimal placement of FACTS devices, specifically STATCOM, UPFC, IPFC, TCSC, SVC, and DPFC, to improve voltage stability, reduce power losses, and enhance overall system efficiency. A comprehensive optimization framework is developed, leveraging the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to determine the optimal locations and settings of these devices. The objective function considers factors such as voltage profile improvement, power loss minimization, and cost-effectiveness. The proposed methodology is validated on standard IEEE 69 radial distribution test systems, and the results demonstrate significant improvements in voltage stability and loss reduction. The study highlights the critical role of FACTS devices in enhancing the operational performance and reliability of modern power distribution networks. MULTI-OBJECTIVE FUNCTION The multi-objective function is expressed as , F(k)=min{w_1 f_1 (k)+w_2 f_2 (k)+w_3 f_3 (k)+w_4 (1/(f_4 (k) ))} w_1,w_2 ,and w_3 represent the weighting factors. The summation of weights should not exceed 1 here ω_1=0.25, ω_2=0.25, ω_3=0.25 ω_4=0.25 and considered by providing equal weights for objectives. SCENARIOS 1. Base Case 2. Only TCSC 3.
