Everyone knows that the ultimate spiritual state a person would like to reach, and as the Buddha talked about, is to have “compassion for all of life.” But, as Doc said in this clip, “That can’t be an artificiality.” Being compassionate is an automatic consequence a certain understanding - the limitation of the human evolution, the limitation intrinsic built in to the computer software problem of the human mind. Once you understand this, a person can be compassionate for human error. You can accept human fallibility. Not only do you show compassion toward others, but you also become compassionate toward yourself and stop attacking yourself with guilt. We are all fallible. What we need to do is take responsibility to correct our mistakes. So, “acceptance of fallibility, the limitations of the human mind then, allows for a certain serenity.” Dr. Hawkins also explains Socrates dictum, that, “All Men choose only what they perceive to be the good.” “Once you’ve accepted this statement, it solves a multitude of problems.” This excerpt came from the August 2005 lecture, “Serenity.” Full lecture available through our video streaming service: http://veritaspub.com/streaming-produ...
