Introduction to the Cell Cycle - Introduction | G1- S- G2-Interphase | Mitotic Phase

In this cell biology video, we invite you to join us on an exciting and informative dive into the world of the Cell Cycle. Our video provides a comprehensive overview of the Cell Cycle, covering everything you need to know about this fascinating process. We take a clear and concise approach to explaining the different phases of the Cell Cycle, from Interphase, which is further divided into G1, S, and G2, to the Mitotic Phase, during which the cell undergoes nuclear and cytoplasmic division, resulting in the formation of two new cells. Moreover, we delve into the three important checkpoints that occur throughout the Cell Cycle, which act as quality control points that ensure the cell is ready to proceed to the next phase. ▬ 📃 Phases of the Cell Cycle ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Cell performs the important events of the cell cycle in an organized series of steps. In a typical eukaryotic cell, the cell cycle is divided into 2 major stages. That is: 🟠 Interphase (Preparatory Phase) 🟠 Mitotic Phase (Phase of actual Cell Division) 👉 Interphase Interphase refers to the period between two mitotic divisions. Here, the cell is actively preparing for the next division by undergoing both, cell growth and DNA replication. It is also termed as the preparatory phase. Interphase is further divided into 3 phases, which have been thoroughly covered in the video. These are: 🔵 G1 Phase (First Gap Phase, First Growth Phase, or Post-Mitotic Phase) 🔵 S Phase (Synthesis Phase) 🔵 G2 Phase (Second Gap Phase, Second Growth Phase, or Pre-Mitotic Phase) 👉 Mitotic Phase (M Phase) During the mitotic (M) phase, the cell separates its DNA into two sets, and divides its cytoplasm, forming two new cells. This phase is about one hour in a rapidly proliferating cell in Humans and involves two processes. These are: 🟤 Karyokinesis (Nuclear Division) 🟤 Cytokinesis (Cytoplasmic Division) ▬ 📜 Cell Cycle Checkpoints ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ We delve into the three important checkpoints that occur throughout the Cell Cycle, which act as quality control points that help to ensure that everything is in order before the cell moves on to the next stage of the Cell Cycle. These checkpoints are: 🟠 G1 Checkpoint 🟠 G2 Checkpoint 🟠 M Checkpoint These are just the main points covered in the video. We provide a comprehensive overview of the Cell Cycle in a way that is accessible and engaging, using easy-to-remember mnemonics to help you solidify your understanding of the process.
