Film in six episodes with images of Oosterbeek between September 1944 and September 1946. The recordings were made mainly from and around the family home on the Utrechtseweg. The first episode contains images of German soldiers and military vehicles passing by, probably taken at the beginning of September 1944 around Mad Tuesday. In the second episode, jeeps with British paratroopers drive on the same road towards Arnhem, probably immediately after the airborne landings on September 17, 1944. This is followed by images of damage to furniture and household effects and of a hole in the outer wall, probably as a result of the fighting. Special are shots of a German armored vehicle with waiting soldiers next to the house. The third episode is about the liberation. Allied tanks and mechanized artillery drive over the Utrechtseweg towards Arnhem. A man is brought up by a policeman, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. This probably concerns images from immediately after the liberation in April 1945. In The fourth episode images from 1946: an emergency hospital reconstructed for the film 'Theirs is the Glory' with wounded men on the floor of a building. Images of the unveiling of the Airborne Monument in Oosterbeek by Queen Wilhelmina on September 17, 1946. The close-ups of General Roy Urquhart are special. The film ends with two episodes with images of the asphalting of the Utrechtseweg and images of a nighttime fire. Source: 2916 - 11-0001, Clous, familie Ph. J. Clous, CC-BY-4.0 licentie
