SEMS4USV - Smart Energy Management System For USV

We are thrill to present our final results of our SEMS4USV project. On the 17th of July 2024 we performed a surveillance mission with the developed USV system at river Tejo, Lisbon, between Oeiras and “Ponte 25 de Abril”, during 3h45. Results have shown the possibility of extending the USV range up to 70% at normal sea/river conditions with the developed system. Under calm environmental conditions the inclusion of photovoltaic panels could lead to unlimited range during daytime. SEMS4USV - Smart energy management system for sustainable extended-range marine unmanned surface vehicles This project is focused on the development of a fossil-free Unmanned Marine Surface Vehicle (USV) integrating electric propulsion, batteries, photovoltaic panels, cameras, and navigation sensors, capable of extended (to unlimited) range. At the core of the novel solution, there will be an on-board Smart Energy Management System capable of making efficient propulsion adjustments based on predicted and real weather and sea conditions to obtain the required mission profile.
