Housing Advocacy: The Rights of Renters in Ohio

In this lunch and learn from the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Attorneys Taylor Burns and Kara Ford of Legal Aid of Western Ohio shared a presentation on renters’ rights and responsibilities. In this informational session, participants were provided an overview of landlord tenant law in Ohio, with helpful tips from move-in to move-out. Participants learned the rights and duties of both landlords and tenants. Participants learned how tenants can utilize their rights through rent escrow. Participants also were provided with information about evictions, like who is subject to an eviction and how the process works. Finally, participants learned about some of the recent updates to Toledo law that impact tenants’ housing rights.
