Refugees Evicted and Left Homeless in Athens, Greece

Amid the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic in Athens, Greece, refugees are being evicted from their homes with nowhere to go. As the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum began executing its plan to evict more than 11,000 recognized refugees, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is already seeing some of our most at-risk patients left homeless without any assistance. “We have a lot of vulnerable people with very severe health problems," says MSF's Dr. Luai Tayeh, "and they are in danger of being evicted from their homes without any shelter, without meals, without anything.” MSF is calling on the Greek government to identify housing solutions for refugees, to protect the most vulnerable people, and to stop evictions now.
