Visit Rob's website where he shares his industry training and experience to provide solutions to your problems and to make appropriate PRO recommendations for purchasing products, tools and accessories. According to research, organization is key to being productive at work. Research has shown that only 33% of our time on the job site is productive. where does the rest of the time go? Its spent running to the lumberyard, impromptu meetings and interruptions and searching for and setting up tools. As a residential re-modeler its to organize your tools and accessories in such a way as to minimize the time it takes to store, locate, access as well as transport them to and from the job site. Time is money right? Bosch has been spending a lot of time researching these time sinks and have come up with some job site solutions for the mobile contractor such as the Click and Go System, The GTS1031 lightweight table-saw and now the new Bosch 8-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw CM8S. We took a look at this saw and here's what we think: First Impression: The Bosch 8-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw CM8S has a 2 amp motor, operates at 5,600 RPM, weighs 37 pounds, has a durable and conveniently located carry top-handle and is well balanced and light to carry with one hand. Bosch paid attention for residential remodeling contractors like me and finally designed a saw that is a truly portable, lightweight compact saw. Cut Capacity: The Bosch 8-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw CM8S can cross-cut 12-1/4-inches at 0 degrees, and make an 8-inch miter-cut at 45 degrees. Upright cutting of 2-3/4-inches for baseboard and 3-1/2 inches max crown. The saw bevels to one side only. There are two expanding base extensions that extend to add up to 29 inches left to right of additional work support and then retract to just 18 inches wide for transporting. Features: A clear lower guard provides an a clear view of the cut line and the miter scale is clearly visibly and easy to read. The miter scale adjusts to from 52 degrees left to 60 degrees right. Ten adjustable miter detents are set at the most common cuts, and an intuitive, easy-to-access thumb-activated detent override allows accurate adjustment when cutting near detents. Using The Bosch CM8S: Carrying this saw around is super easy and comfortable -- it totally meet the criteria as a lightweight and fast deployment saw and would be perfect for guys that don't need a huge saw, mobile carpenters and punch list operations. The controls are all well marked and easy to access. A bevel lock lever and turret stops, located on the side of the saw, allow users to make quick and easy adjustments for repetitive cutting. We also like seeing that Bosch is trying to meet the ergonomic needs of all users by designing the trigger handle and safety switch as ambidextrous use. There is a unique and adjustable front stabilizing foot and a rear bar to keep the saw stable when performing cuts. I enjoyed using this saw and see this as a viable saw for many contractors that need or prefer a lightweight and portable miter saw but not a super powerful, behemoth saw on the job site.
