In this opening sermon from our verse-by-verse study through the Book of Romans, we examine Romans 1:1–7 and discover what it truly means to be “Set Apart for the Gospel.” Before the Apostle Paul explains justification by faith, the righteousness of God, or salvation by grace, he begins with identity, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God. This message explores five foundational truths from Romans 1:1–7: • The Servant – What it means to belong to Christ • The Summons – God’s sovereign call in salvation and ministry • The Separation – A life set apart for the gospel • The Substance – The gospel centered on Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man • The Scope – The obedience of faith among all nations We will see that the gospel is not man-made, not self-invented, and not self-directed. It is the gospel of God, promised in the Old Testament, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, and proclaimed for the glory of His name among the nations. If you want to understand: Romans 1 explained What “bond-servant of Christ” means The doctrine of effectual calling The obedience of faith The gospel of God in Romans The righteousness of God revealed Then this sermon will help you see how salvation begins with God’s initiative and results in a life surrendered to Christ’s lordship. Romans is not merely theological, it is transformational. As we begin this journey through Paul’s letter, we are reminded that we are not self-made, self-sent, or self-saved. We are set apart by God. 📖 Text: Romans 1:1–7 (NASB 1995) 📍 Series: The Righteousness of God Revealed – A Study Through Romans 🎙 Pastor Joshua Nichols | Faithful to the Word Subscribe for weekly expository preaching, biblical theology, and Christ-centered teaching grounded in Scripture. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
