I'm hiking northbound from Oranienburg on the outskirts of Berlin along the E10 to close out the entire section of trail in Brandenburg, so I can write up a hiking guide for it as a coherent whole. My previous video aimed to cover just the E10 around the greater Berlin metro area, but I've decided to cover the entire length of the E10 through Brandenburg, which I think will cover about 500 kilometers. I started my day-hikes along the E10 southbound from Potsdam last year, and now I'm heading back and making my way north from the same city. I'm following the eastern branch of the trail, which crosses through Hennigsdorf and Oranienburg before heading north: through Zehdenick, Fürstenberg, and eventually rejoining the western branch just past the border to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern at the village of Strasen. I'm covering the 104km from Oranienburg to Strasen in five stages, plus another 13km to walk back from Strasen to Fürstenberg where I pick up the train. Some of the stages were over 30km, so I put in a few long days and was quite tired by the end. This section of the E10, as it has been since I crossed the Havel, has had very few trail markings, and many of the signs have toppled over. I'll be stopping and sighing dramatically several times as I pull out my phone to check my map. There are, however, excellent blazes for another trail approaching Fürstenberg, and so on my second day (that's this video) I'll have excellent trail markings for about 10km. This part of Germany, as was the case south of the city, is surrounded by low-lying marshlands, extensive rivers, lakes, and waterways. It's beautiful country, and I got some lovely views of the landscape. I crossed through some really expansive farmland in the mid-morning, with wide-open skies overhead. I was happy to note that a greater portion of the trail was through forests than it had been for the last few sections. It was rainy as I was setting out in the morning, but cleared up after about an hour and stayed relatively dry for the rest of the hike. A lovely day of hiking. *Trekking for Europe* This video about my hike along the E10 is a part of my project to promote all of the E-Paths, a vast network of trails across Europe: as a natural wonder, a means of cross-cultural understanding, and a catalyst for peace.
