The district forester stopped by the farm a couple weeks ago and spent six hours looking at the habitat projects we have been working on. During the course of his visit, he zeroed in on a few things we can do better. One of those things is our approach to TSI. We need to be more focused on cutting trees that we have been walking past. He explained why sometimes cutting more - removing certain seed trees and even cutting down (coppicing) oak trees - is actually better for long-term timber quality.
