Elizabeth I is definitely NOT a forgotten person in history - and yet, much of what she did during her long reign is often forgotten, or at least downplayed in light of her better achievements. This video is not an attempt to villainise Elizabeth - she was a survivor, created a strong and formidable kingdom that sparked the beginning of the modern era for Britain, and was a beloved queen. But she also systematically destroyed ways of life for many people, created divides, and she did so on the backs of many bodies, many of whom are often not counted. In this video (and Part 2!), we attempt to balance what Elizabeth did, looking at her not as Gloriana the myth, or as a villain, but as Elizabeth, the complicated queen.
