Pepers Dirty Tree - Review (High Gain Savageness) The Pepers Dirty Tree Boost is an absolute savage high gain pedal. When paired with a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier or Triple Rectifier it can really shape and boost that amp to high gain heavens. Overall the boost cuts a ton of lows and outputs a lot of boost, so if that's what your tube amp is after then this will be a perfect pairing. On amps like a 5150 III or similar where they're insanely gained out and compressed already, you're just stacking gain on gain on gain and its a lot less effective. (Un)Fortunately for guitarists, gems of high gain amps like the 5150 family are few and far between. More amps would benefit from a DT style boost than wouldn't so having one kicking around in your arsenal is never a bad thing. It's also worth mentioning that the Dirty Tree Pedal will more than likely need to be best friends with a modern noise gate pedal as well. In this video I'm using a TC Sentry but any 4cm style noise gate will help. The output of the DT pedal is just so insane that it's inevitable that you'll need something to cut the additional hum.
