New Year’s Eve in Manchester… and honestly, it was MADD - start to finish. I pulled an all-nighter, starting off daytime on Market Street, soaking in the early vibes before things really kicked off. Plenty of high spirits, but also a heavy police presence straight away with the usual arrests as crowds built up. As the night rolled on, things escalated fast. 🔥 Piccadilly Gardens erupted with fireworks and a mass brawl around 20 men going at it in the middle of the gardens. Searches, arrests, absolute chaos. Madd scenes. We even got accosted by a regular supporter of the channel, laughed it off and kept it moving. More fireworks popped off in the Northern Quarter, before heading to St Peter’s Square for the official display. Honestly? Underwhelming. Way too many people, fireworks not big enough for the crowd, and security everywhere. Didn’t live up for me. Caught up with Danny VIP on Deansgate, doing what he does best drums, tunes, guest singers, lifting the mood for everyone passing through. Then down to Canal Street absolutely rammed, lively, and buzzing as expected on New Year’s Eve. One of the more serious moments came outside Mc Tucky’s chicken takeaway, where I encountered the regular security guard I’ve seen before being aggressive. This time it crossed a line openly racially abusive, shouting insults about skin colour. I called it out there and then. Not acceptable, and not the first time I’ve seen behaviour like this in the city. To end the night, things could’ve gone very wrong. Police stopped and searched a man after a report from a member of the public and pulled a seven-inch kitchen knife from down his pants. That could’ve ended in tragedy. Fair play to Greater Manchester Police for getting that off the streets before someone got hurt. This video shows both sides of Manchester on New Year’s Eve celebration, Maddness, danger, music, tension, and reality. 👇 If you enjoy real, on-the-ground Manchester content: Like, subscribe, and turn notifications on so you don’t miss the next one.
