A Trip To Mayberry - Mount Airy North Carolina - Andy Griffith

Since I was a young lad I've always loved to watch the Andy Griffith Show. I suppose it's due to the simple times portrayed in the show as well as the wholesome comedy. I have every episode on DVD as well as a replica of a script from one of the shows. Once the internet came to be in my home 20 or so years ago, I found out that Andy Griffith's home town of Mount Airy, North Carolina has their downtown area "themed" off of the show. There's various shops and restaurants themed or named after people and places from the 1960s show; The Andy Griffith Show. Besides shopping and eating establishments, there is a museum dedicated to Andy as well as the other stars from the show. There's a "museum" so-to-speak that's done up like the Mayberry Courthouse & Jail with attached gift shop slam packed with gifts & collectables based on the show. There's even squad car tours of the town that you can go on. These tours are taken in police cars just like the ones used in the show! The trip was 11+ hours (one way) and that seemed to always discourage me from going there. But a few things that happened (discussed in the video) pushed me over the edge to scratch off a bucket-list item on my birthday. This video is part one of our trip to Mayberry. It showcases all of the things previously mentioned, except the squad car tour, which will be in a other video. That video tour also showcases the largest granite quarry in the world! This was one birthday...
