(5 Feb 2026) ASSOCIATED PRESS Los Angeles - 5 February 2026 1. Wide, Coco Jones 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Coco Jones, Recording Artist: “I want to represent the culture and I hope you feel me and you feel us when you listen to it. How do you prepare for it? I know that you performed at Dodger Stadium. I actually was just talking to Alicia Keys the other day and she was the first to do it since they've implemented Lift Every Voice in the Super Bowl and she just gave me some quick uplifting. Don't be nervous, be in the moment, all of those things. And I love watching the predecessors before me. What I want to do is to just not really compare and really do whatever feels natural to me in the moment and that'll do what it needs to do.” 3. Wide, Brandi Carlile 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Brandi Carlile, Recording Artist: “This is a really powerful Super Bowl. This is a beautiful one for so many reasons, but that they would ask people that represent other marginalized people to come and represent America is beautiful. It has importance, you know, because we do look like what America looks like in reality. And so I think it's sobering and humbling and that everybody involved, I can only speak for myself, but is going to take the opportunity and sing and be present for everyone, even the people that don't agree with us or think the way that we think.” 5. Wide, Brandi Carlile 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Brandi Carlile, Recording Artist: “It's life-affirming and it does what sports were always meant to do, which is unite people, you know, in this kind of shared friction of competition and victory and strife and people coming from nothing to do great things, you know. That's what sports represent, that's what music represents, and so it's not on a parallel course, you know, where never the twins shall meet. Sometimes we cross over, and entertainment, music, and sports cross over at the Super Bowl, and that's why it's such a beautiful thing to be here. I mean, you're told from the time that you're raised in this country, the biggest thing is the Super Bowl, you now. You use it as a barometer. Oh my god, this is so huge. It's like Super Bowl huge, you know? And you can't argue with that. You cannot argue with an opportunity to represent your community on this stage.” 7. SOUNDBITE (English) Charlie Puth, Recording Artist: “Music is such an amazing thing. My goal with this performance is to inspire people to one day get up and you know maybe they can do this too because I never thought, I never had anybody telling me, well I had my parents telling me encouraging me that I could probably do something like this one day, but certainly none of my peers early on so I want people to look at this performance and not look at me like I'm in some unreachable position that they can do it too.” ++BLACK FRAMES++ 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Charlie Puth, Recording Artist: “You kind of have to forget that there's a hundred thousand people looking at you all at once. And you kind of just have to really focus on the music element. The moment you start thinking about everybody else, and you're locked into the music, that's when things could possibly not go awry, but not sound the best as they should. So I just lock in into the the music.” ++END ON SOUNDBITE++ STORYLINE: The Super Bowl pregame show will open with several standout performers in Northern California: Charlie Puth will hit the stage to sing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile will take on “America the Beautiful” and Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” =========================================================== Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
