The three killed were Samir Abu Zeid and his two young children - his 7-year old daughter Inez and 5-year old son Suleiman. Palestinians said the Abu Zeid was killed by two surface-to-surface missiles fired from a nearby Israeli army post. But Israel denied any involvement in his death. Israeli Army spokesman, Lt. Col. Olivier Rafowicz, said an examination of the evidence showed that Abu Zeid was making a bomb and that it exploded prematurely. Abu Zeid was a founder of the Popular Resistance Committee in the Rafah area, an affiliation of activists from various Palestinian factions. The group said it would avenge Abu Zeid's death.
