If you want to travel to Ephesus without taking an overpriced tour group, then you should do it by public transportation. While this video shows you some of the key things to see at the ruin, it also shows that it's possible to save about $40 a person. To find the exact details about how to get to Ephesus from Kusadasi by public transportation go here https://jetsettogether.com/how-to-vis... This ancient Greek's prided themselves on this city, and especially the Temple of Artemis. While I don't show the ruins of the Temple of Artemis in this video, it's only a short taxi or medium walk from the site. If you are going by public transportation to Ephesus then I highly recommend buying a cheap guide book at the entrance. Mine was less than $10. It shows not only pictures of the excavation site, but also what the buildings looked like over 2000 years ago! To get to Ephesus entirely by yourself from Kusadasi follow these instructions: Go to Kusadasi main bus station (mini-bus section): 4TL by Dolmus from anywhere in the city. Take the bus to Selcuk and tell the driver to drop you off at the bottom entrance to Ephesus site: 9 TL Take a taxi to the top entrance (optional, but recommended): 30 TL Take a taxi to Temple of Artemis site (optional, but recommended): 20 TL Walk to Selcuk main bus station: Free Get the bus back to Kusadasi: 9TL Total price (not including entrance tickets): 22 TL (without extra taxi) or 72 TL (with extra taxis). Note that you don't need to take a taxi at all, it will just add about an hour of extra walking time. If I was by myself I probably wouldn't pay for the taxi, but since I was with a couple friends it was economical to pay the extra.
