Dispatched to a mutual aid structure fire. While en route, we were advised it was a basement fire with flames showing. All occupants had evacuated. Also while en route, command relayed that it would be a defensive attack initially due to heavy hoarder conditions in the basement. When I arrived on scene I made contact with command to see what he needed from our department when our engine arrived on scene. I was told to have our guys packed up and come to him for assignment. Command told me to grab a pack off their truck and prepare to make entry through the Alpha side door. We had 4 personnel with us on the entry team (2 on the hose, 1 with tool, and 1 with TIC) and attempted to make entry through the front door, but we were unable to push inside due to intense heat and soft floors. Once we had pulled out, were then assigned to the Bravo side basement window with our hose line to put water on active fire. Due to the construction of the home, we were unable to get control of the fire for quite a while. We had been moving around throughout the evening to multiple assignments when we began to get turbulent smoke and heavy fire conditions throughout the attic. We attempted to make another interior attack into the 2nd floor of the home but were again forced to pull back due to compromised floors. All hose lines were placed strategically to flow as much water as possible through multiple ventilation openings in the roof and attic. We were able to suppress the fire and finally get a handle on it. While we were on scene of the fire, we were dispatched to a PIA with entrapment. We sent a few of our members to assist another department with extrication and setting up a landing zone for the helicopter. Our crew completed their assignment at the accident and came back to the fire scene.
