A skirmish match of myself playing Allies (Germany) against 7 different AI / CPU opponents, all set to the brutal difficulty. Lame 'cheese' strategies are forbidden, meaning that I cannot destroy bridges to isolate myself for safety, as well as a few other conditions. The opponents are deliberately chosen to give as much variety as possible. Since I'm playing an Allied Faction, Germany, I have chosen 3x Allies and 4x Soviets for my opposition. Their individual factions are selected to ensure there are no duplicates. This is an incredibly difficult challenge (for me at least), as it pits me against the maximum number of enemies, all set to the hardest possible difficulty. Surviving for more than 5 minutes is honestly an achievement here, and something that did not happen in the majority of my practice attempts. You may be confused regarding the resolution of this video compared to some others Red Alert 2 gameplay you may have seen from other Youtubers. Red Alert 2 can in fact be forced to run at whatever resolution you desire, although doing so has some adverse effects on the game's menus. It also changes how far you can see at any given time, and the relative size of the mini-map and sidebar. Most people will play on a 1920x1080 resolution, which is substantially more zoomed out than my videos. I, however, am playing on a 1024x576 resolution, which is a widescreen equivalent to the 768x576 resolution that the game originally ran at. Personally, I feel that this recaptures the original feel of the game more effectively, and is worth giving up the technical advantage of being able to see further. Although it does make the game more difficult, but hey, that's par for the course given our current challenge.
